Joining Jen at The Conversion Diary for another Quick Takes!

{Episode 17}

~ 1 ~

The company is in Maryland this weekend performing two shows, and Karl and I are in Michigan for my youngest sister’s wedding.  It’s so nice being home with my family!  Of course, we flew in late last night (this was written before our plane took off) so we haven’t seen much of the family yet, but it’s still nice being home in good ol’ Grand Rapids!

In between the bridesmaid stuff and catching up with out-of-state relatives, Karl and I are hoping to take in a bit of art at Artprize, which is in it’s forth year!  I’ll post more on Artprize next week.

I talked to my 92 year old grandpa on the phone last week.  My gramps and I are extremely close and it is not easy living several states away from him.  We tease each other relentlessly.  Here is a snippet of our conversation:

Me: Hey, Grandpa!  How are things?

Grandpa: Things are looking pretty good around here!

Me: I guess that means you haven’t looked in a mirror lately, huh?

Grandpa: Ohhhhhhh, youuuuuu! (I could hear the glee in his voice.  He loves it when his granddaughters get a little feisty.)

Later…

Me: You know, Grandpa, the only reason I’m going to the wedding is to see you.

Grandpa: Ooooooooooooo, you lie like a rug!

Obviously, he’s not the only reason I’m here for the wedding, but I sure as heck can’t wait to see that old man!

We had a great time last weekend wrapping up Karl’s Birthday Extravaganza.  Two weekends of events may seem excessive, but there is a lot to celebrate when it comes to that man!

Only one of my teams is playing tomorrow.  Karl has everything ready so I can wired for sound if necessary.  I’ll have to work out subtle hand signals with other fans to keep them informed too.  The game doesn’t start until 3:30, so at least I won’t have to worry about checking the game during mass.  No sacrilegious bridesmaids here!

I am so incredibly excited about the second season of Once Upon A Time!!!  (More on that here.) I think I’m going to talk my sisters into having a season premier viewing party on Sunday.
